Enroll your child in a martial arts class
Many parents are considering whether they should enroll their children in a martial arts class to learn kung fu. Firstly, it can strengthen the body and can protect themselves, secondly, it can exercise the will, and thirdly, it can also improve the child’s self-confidence. Wushu has been synonymous with the Chinese nation. It is popular worldwide and has a large mass base.
Chinese Martial Arts
Martial arts originated from the productive labor of our ancient ancestors. People gradually accumulated the skills of chopping, slashing and stabbing in the production activities of hunting. These primitive forms of offensive and defensive skills are low-level, not yet out of the category of production skills, but the basis for the formation of martial arts techniques. Wushu, as an independent social and cultural phenomenon, is synchronized with the emergence of Chinese civilization.

- Cultivate the mind and improve concentration
Wushu is not just a competitive art, it is actually divided into three aspects: sparring for self-defense, set of routines for physical fitness, and Taiji and Qigong for cultivating the mind and body. All three together make up the Chinese martial arts. This is very different from other pure fighting arts, and thus Wushu is arguably the most unique Kung Fu culture in the world. The point of cultivating the mind is what I love about Wushu because it’s kind of like meditation and can help improve a child’s ability to focus! - It’s very informative and attracts children’s interest
Take Shaolin Wushu for example, there are 18 weapons, 12 Chinese Zodiac Elephant Fists, other traditional Shaolin fists and so on. And every level of the Wushu system, you have to practice different items. For example, at the beginning of the beginner level, you will practice basic skills, beginner long fist, but when you move up to the intermediate level, you will start practicing sticks or other weapons, and then when you move up to the advanced level, you will learn flips and so on…
So martial arts for children, the content is very rich, swords, spears, halberds and hammers, flips and jumps, etc., can help the child has been to maintain a sense of interest and freshness. - Exercise the coordination and flexibility of the body
Wushu emphasizes on whether the movements are in place or not. Not only require children to make the approximate movement, and must be standardized, excellence, squatting a little lower, leg and then kick a little higher, back to straighten a little … … In addition to the martial arts also pay attention to the different postures, such as hand, there are fists, palms, hooks, and other types of hands. So this is particularly helpful for the flexibility and coordination of the whole body.

Is the age appropriate?
Children under the age of 4 are not suitable for learning because of their lack of concentration and poor receptive and absorptive abilities, while children after the age of 4 are more mature in heart and will not cry at will, so learning martial arts at this time will be more helpful to the children’s self-confidence, character development and other aspects.
Children within 4 years of age are not yet fully developed, intense exercise is more likely to cause bone deformities, so do not advocate too young children to carry out super-intensive martial arts training.
Does it affect growth?
All martial arts require ligament stretching exercises during training, and the kicks and leg presses are vertical stretches of the muscles, which will help your child to grow and will also shape the legs nicely.
Is it suitable for girls?
Nowadays there are a lot of girls are involved. This is because martial arts training on body flexibility will make the posture more light and flexible. All these can help girls to build a perfect body shape, and if there is a foundation of martial arts, it will be easy for girls to learn any other movements!
If it is to develop a tough character, strong body and confident eyes, then martial arts is still extremely helpful to your child. If you are still hesitant between enrolling or not enrolling your child, I suggest you enroll in a weekend class first to experience it slowly.
